Commissioner Scott A. Krahling was elected to the District 4 seat on the Doña Ana County Board of Commissioners on Nov. 4, 2008. He took the oath of office on Dec. 31, 2008, and assumed the duties of County Commissioner on Jan. 1, 2009. His four-year term ends Dec. 31, 2012, and he is eligible to seek re-election.

Commissioner Krahling represents District 4, which encompasses most of northeast Doña Ana County , including the East Mesa areas of Mesa Development, Hacienda Acres, Organ, Moongate and the eastern areas of the City of Las Cruces .

Commissioner Krahling is a native of Albuquerque. He attended New Mexico State University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree with a double major in government and journalism/mass communications. While at NMSU, Commissioner Krahling also studied democratic philosophy, American government and ethics. He also taught a course in American government at NMSU. He said his education has given him an appreciation for diplomacy and an enduring respect and empathy for other people's perspectives, all of which he will call upon to achieve progress in county government.

In 1997, Commissioner Krahling met Robin Quinn. They married in 2002, and in 2007, Robin gave birth to their first child. “Simply put, with my family’s roots growing deeper in this community, I am more committed then ever to making sure that our county government is actively pursuing a vision for a more beautiful, safe and prosperous community,” said Commissioner Krahling.

Commissioner Krahling helped start a business in Las Cruces (The Real Estate Weekly) and has helped a different business (Digital Solutions) become an established and successful marketing firm. He said his ties to the business world will be useful tools in ensuring that county government operates in a transparent and efficient manner during his tenure.

He said his parents, Chris and Kathy Krahling, taught him that active citizenship is one of the most important values someone can have. “I was raised to respect others, to be honest and to take responsibility for myself,” he said. “Those who know me will attest to my integrity and the commitment that I have to my family and helping others."
