Sue Padilla was appointed interim Doña Ana County Manager on Sept. 11, 2012, by a unanimous vote of the Doña Ana County Board of Commissioners. Her contract runs through March 31, 2014, or until Doña Ana County Manager Brian D. Haines returns from medical leave, whichever comes first.

Ms. Padilla was hired Oct. 27, 2003, as a financial specialist in the Doña Ana County Utilities Department. She was promoted to Utilities Administrator less than two months after coming on board, and was promoted to Utilities Director in March of the following year. In January of 2006, she assumed the additional responsibility of being the county’s Executive Environmental Facilitator. On Sept. 1 of 2006, she was named Assistant County Manager, while remaining in control of the Utilities Department. She was the Acting County Manager for several months in 2010. In May of 2012, she assumed the responsibility of Executive Director of the Camino Real Regional Utility Authority, in addition to her duties as Assistant County Manager.

A native of Grants, N.M., Ms. Padilla is a former village administrator and personnel director for the town of Bosque Farms, N.M. She holds a bachelor’s degree in education and agricultural extension from New Mexico State University, and she is a graduate of the Utilities Management Institute in San Antonio, Texas.
