With former City of Sunland Park Mayor Ruben Segura and Camino Real Regional Utility Authority Executive Director Victor Torres looking on, District 2 Doña Ana County Commissioner Dolores Saldaña-Caviness and District 3 Doña Ana County Commissioner and CRRUA Board Chair Karen G. Perez formally filed documents in the Doña Ana County Clerk’s Office Wednesday that transfer all assets related to water and wastewater provisions in southern Doña Ana County and the City of Sunland Park to the newly independent CRRUA.

FIBER CUT AFFECTS SOUTH VALLEY PHONE USERS
A cut in fiber-optic cable has disabled the phones of southern Doña Ana County residents with 233 telephone prefixes. Individuals with emergencies to report are advised to go in person to either the Mesquite or La Mesa Volunteer Fire Districts, where personnel will be stationed until telephone service is restored.

RAIL CROSSING REPAIRS TO CLOSE DOÑA ANA ROAD INTERSECTION
Burlington-Northern Railroad has notified Doña Ana County that the intersection of Doña Ana Road and Pedro Madrid Road will be closed for emergency crossing repairs beginning at 8 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 1, and continuing until the repairs are completed.

FILING WILL FINALIZE REGIONAL UTILITY IN SOUTHERN COUNTY
Officials from the Camino Real Regional Utility Authority will be on hand at 9 a.m. Wednesday when the formal filing of deeds in the Doña Ana County Clerk’s Office will finalize the Authority’s creation, a joint utility effort of the City of Sunland Park and Doña Ana County, to provide an independent utility for the provision of water and wastewater services along the U.S./Mexico border in southern Doña Ana County.

SHERIFF’S DEPARTMENT ANNOUNCES FEBRUARY DWI ENFORCEMENT
The Doña Ana County Sheriff’s Department has two sobriety checkpoints and saturation patrols scheduled for the month of February, in an effort to reduce DWI-related crashes, injuries and deaths that could result from intoxicated drivers who choose to get behind the wheel.

Doña Ana County is seeking applications from residents interested in serving a one-year appointment on the Doña Ana County Labor/Management Relations Board. Applicants are being sought to represent management.
The Doña Ana County Labor/Management Relations Board is a three-member board of volunteers whose members enforce provisions of Doña Ana County’s Labor/Management Relations Ordinance and the board’s Labor/Management Relations rules and regulations.
