District 4 Doña Ana County Commissioner Scott A. Krahling will host a community meeting to discuss bullying on Saturday, Dec. 4, at 1 p.m. in the Commission Chambers of the Doña Ana County Government Center.
There will be a panel of community leaders who will outline their respective views on the issue and how the community can best act to stop bullying behavior against children and teens. Audience participation will be encouraged.
“In the wake of several suicides across the nation, and after having spoken personally to one young man enrolled in the local school system, I’m convinced this is an issue that requires meaningful public dialogue at the local level,” Krahling said. “I want to provide a forum for us to assess where we are, decide where we want to be, and create a road map to get there. I have invited state and local officials and community leaders to attend this meeting. Some who are on the front lines will be on a panel whose members will help me steer the discussion toward measurable goals that can be pursued through the schools, the churches and the community at large.”
Students, parents and the media – along with the general public – are encouraged to attend.
